City Produce Project
Kineo developed the City Produce Project program through a collaboration of research hospitals, health clinics, academics and agriculture industry representatives to grow and deliver fresh vegetables and nutrition education to Chicago’s food desert communities. The objective was to reduce the incidence of poor eating habits, obesity and diabetes in low-income communities.
While lack of access to fresh produce in these communities is well known, this project went a step further than many and educated at-risk families on how to cook and use fresh vegetables in their diet.
The program delivered 175,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to the neighborhoods in need and earned recognition for our partners in the local press, on television and across the social media landscape.
